Siberian Ibex in Sayan

Siberian Ibex (Capra sibirica sibirica) inhabits in the open, desert areas at the different altitudes. In Russia, these are the Altai Mountains and the Sayan Mountains in Siberia. It is a large, well-built strong Ibex with thick legs, long and sharpened beard and powerful curved horns. The average size of the horns is 110 cm (43 inches).

Transfer: You can come via Moscow. Our English speaking PRO representative will meet you at the airport of your arrival and assist you at the customs. Then you will take the 4 hours flight to Gorno-Altaisk or Abakan. Upon arrival in Gorno-Altaisk or Abakan you take 5 hours car ride to the hunting area (Barnaul), or 2 hours drive by car and then by comfortable boat 4 hours to the hunting camp located on the shore of the Sayano-Shushenskoye reservoir. At the client's request, a helicopter can be provided for an additional fee.

Accommodation: comfortable hunting base with 2-3-bed rooms, a bathhouse, a dining room. During the hunt, overnight stays are possible in the mountains, in wooden huts or in tented flycamp.

Hunting method: This is a traditional foot hunt. Each hunter, accompanied by a guide, examines the mountain slopes through binoculars in search of a worthy trophy ibex. When the animal is found, the approach to a confident shot distance begins. An accurate shot at a distance of up to 300 meters will put an end to this hunt. The efficiency of this hunt is close to 100%.

Please note that you will have to walk with a backpack and many difficult climbs into the mountains. Good physical fitness is required.

Hunting dates: from August 1 to November 30.

Climate
During daylight hours temperature in September from 50 to 59 ^oF (10 to 15 ^oC) and during nighttime from 23 to 32 ^oF (0 to – 5 ^oC). Normally, weather is favorable during all hunting season.

 
Schedule

Day 1             arrival in Moscow, flight to Abakan

Day 2             arrival to Abakan, transfer to hunting area.

Day 3-10        5 days hunt 

Day 11           travel back to Abakan, overnight at the hotel.

Day 12           flight to Moscow, departure from Moscow
