Koryak Snow Sheep in Chukotka
Koryak Snow Sheep (Ovis nivicola koriakorum) Chukotka population can be found in disjunct populations on the open areas of the high mountain of the northeastern edge of Chukotka peninsula, Koryak Upland.
We are the first company who discovered the mountains of Chukotka to find the best places for our clients to hunt. We know the locations of the population and how to get there. Our experience in Chukotka counts with more than 17 years.
Competition with Caribou for grazing areas and human activity such as mining and exploration led to poaching and the destruction of the species. In the last years, the limited quantity of hunting licenses is issued to improve the situation in the region and to maintain the Chukotka Snow Sheep species.
